Finnish mobile manufacturer Jolla has announced, that they will release their first official mobile phones in the end of the year 2013.

According to the CEO Marc Dillon, first Jolla phones will be released on the Finnish and Chinese markets and their releasing will be aimed to Finnish christmas season as well as to the Chinese new year.

Jolla has already made agreements of distribution with Finnish mobile-operator DNA and with D. Phone, a Chinese retailer of mobile phones and accessories which will ensure distribution and sale channels for the new phone.

At this moment company is going through final development and testing stages of their own Sailfish mobile operating system which will be the driving force of the new phones on market.

Although the Finnish and Chinese markets will only be their first geographical marketing targets, CEO Marc Dillon has not yet revealed where they will start their markets later on. Jolla is aiming to make their sales by offering cheaper but equal competitor to the leading mobile phones such as iPhone or any of the Android devices.

One thing is sure: Jolla is aiming high. With their own mobile operating system and new phones, they are trying to get their foothold next to the top mobile brands and try to provide the third option next to the two of the market leaders. Although this may sound that they are trying to shove off Nokia as a third competitor, a place it currently holds, Dillon has stated they wish not to overthrow Nokia but could be willing to provide Sailfish operating system to the Nokia phones also.

Last autumn Jolla informed that they will be considering IPO in Helsinki or in Hong Kong but are not yet giving any certain dates to it.
